Late Friday night in Ambala, cow smugglers in a pickup truck shot and killed a young man riding a motorcycle. His friend, who was riding pillion, narrowly escaped. The police team was chasing the cow smugglers, who had fired at the police vehicle and fled.

A short distance away, the smugglers mistook the motorcyclists for policemen and fired at them, hitting one young man in the forehead. The smugglers then fled the scene. Police teams are searching for the accused. On Saturday morning, Minister Anil Vij visited the Civil Hospital and met with the deceased’s family.

Police arrived to catch smugglers DSP Ramesh Kumar stated that the police had received information that cattle smugglers were roaming near Tundla in the Panjokhra police station area. Upon receiving the information, the police team reached the spot and tried to surround the smugglers.

During this, an encounter took place between the two, in which a bullet also hit the window of the police vehicle.

Attack while returning from work Meanwhile, Gurpreet Singh alias Happy (25), a resident of Garnala, was returning home on a bike with his friend Nakshatra Singh. Both used to work in a canteen.

When they were near Tundla, on Topkhana Road, the same cattle smugglers whom the police were chasing were coming in a pickup from the opposite direction.

Opened fire mistaking them for police Seeing the two helmet-wearing youths in the dark of night, the smugglers thought it was a police blockade and that the two youths were policemen. Feeling cornered, they indiscriminately fired at the bike riders with a country-made pistol.

One bullet hit Gurpreet Singh directly on the forehead, causing him to fall bleeding on the spot and die. Nakshatra Singh narrowly escaped this attack.

Following the incident, the police have started scanning the footage from nearby CCTV cameras. A search operation was launched in the area to arrest the accused. Officials say that the smugglers will be apprehended soon.

He stated that he has given strict instructions to the Ambala SP that such cow smugglers will not be spared under any circumstances.
