TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar resigns as Barasat district president:Cites corruption concerns & bypoll performance issues in West Bengal

Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has resigned from the post of Barasat organizational district president of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), citing growing public concerns over injustice and corruption in West Bengal. In her resignation letter, the four-time MP said recent developments in the state have raised serious questions among common people and cannot be ignored by the party leadership.

She stressed the importance of transparency, accountability, discipline and commitment in politics, adding that the party’s poor performance in the recent Assembly bypolls in the district reflected the public mood. Taking moral responsibility for the setback, Kakoli expressed her desire to step down from the district president’s post.

The senior TMC leader also urged the party leadership to once again give importance to experienced and dedicated old workers, saying a stronger organizational structure would help improve the party’s image and reconnect with grassroots supporters.

Apart from being an active politician, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar is also a gynecologist by profession. She completed her MBBS from R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital and later trained in obstetric ultrasound in London. Known for raising healthcare and women’s issues, she has previously served as National President of Trinamool Mahila Congress and as the party’s chief whip in the Lok Sabha.
