CCTV footage related to the suspicious death of model and actress Twisha Sharma (31) in Bhopal surfaced on Monday. The footage allegedly shows her going to the terrace of the house shortly before her death. A short while later, three people are seen bringing her body downstairs.

Twisha’s WhatsApp chats have also gone viral. In one message, she allegedly wrote-

Twisha Sharma, daughter-in-law of retired woman judge Giribala Singh, died on Tuesday at her in-laws’ residence in Bagmugalia Extension under Katara Hills area of Bhopal.

She was pregnant at the time of her death. Her in-laws claimed that she died by suicide after hanging herself, while her parental family accused her husband Samarth Singh and other in-laws of murder.

Her husband has been absconding since the incident. Former judge Giribala Singh addresses press conference. Meanwhile, former judge Giribala Singh held a press conference regarding the case.

She claimed that Twisha had undergone an abortion voluntarily and later suffered from depression. According to Giribala Singh, signs of substance addiction were noticed in Twisha after marriage.

“She insisted on travelling to Delhi to consume marijuana. We even arranged counselling for her. Twisha herself had proposed the marriage,” she said.

‘Family trying to gain mileage from death’

Giribala Singh further alleged that Twisha’s family was trying to gain “mileage” from the incident. “They are doing politics even over the body. Our family has served the nation. I am being defamed. Attempts were made to threaten and pressure us in court,” she claimed.

Twisha allegedly went missing for 12 hours

According to the bail application, Twisha had left for Delhi by flight on the morning of April 17, 2026, and reached her parental home the following day.

The application claims that she remained untraceable for nearly 12 hours during that period and allegedly did not explain where she had been when questioned later. Twisha had previously worked as an actress in four Telugu films and had also been associated with advertising assignments and modelling projects.

Mother’s call came after returning from beauty parlour

According to the case details, Twisha returned home from a beauty parlour on the evening of May 11 after getting ready for an outing.

While watching television, she reportedly received a phone call from her mother and went to the terrace while speaking. The call later got disconnected. Around 10:30 pm the same night, Twisha allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself.

Lawyer claims behaviour changed during pregnancy

During arguments in court, Giribala Singh’s lawyer stated that Twisha was pregnant and her behaviour toward her in-laws had changed after becoming pregnant.

The lawyer argued that the in-laws were arranging medical treatment for her and claimed that Samarth himself had taken her to the beauty parlour on the day of the incident.

The application further stated that Twisha had suffered a miscarriage.

Family used to transfer money every month: Bail plea

The bail application filed on behalf of Giribala Singh described all allegations against her as baseless. The plea stated that no dowry was ever demanded from Twisha and denied allegations of harassment over dowry.

According to the application, Twisha was given financial support every month according to her needs through online transfers.

As evidence, the defence reportedly submitted online transaction receipts before the court, showing transfers ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000.

Claim of psychiatric treatment mentioned in court

Giribala Singh also claimed in court that Twisha had been undergoing treatment with psychiatrist Dr Satyakant Trivedi and that her mental condition was unstable.

The application further stated that she had also been referred to counsellor Kakoli Ray for counselling sessions.

Twisha’s family has alleged that the investigation is not being conducted impartially.

They accused police of negligence in arresting Samarth Sharma, who has reportedly been absconding since the incident. The family has demanded that the case be investigated by a police agency from outside Madhya Pradesh and has also sought a second postmortem examination at AIIMS New Delhi.

Family members alleged that when they visited Katara Hills police station, the station in-charge and other police personnel did not speak to them properly. They have also appealed to the Chief Minister for action against the police officials involved.

Family says Twisha appeared disturbed before death

According to Twisha’s relatives, she appeared mentally distressed before the incident and had expressed emotional discomfort during phone conversations.

While speaking to her mother over the phone, the call got disconnected. Twisha’s mother then reportedly informed Giribala Singh about the disconnected call.

Giribala and her son Samarth allegedly began searching for Twisha inside the house. During the search, Twisha was reportedly found hanging from a pipe on the terrace using a plastic rope.

Samarth, with the help of a relative living nearby, took her to AIIMS Bhopal.

SIT formed under ACP Misrod

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has now been constituted to investigate the case.

The SIT is being led by ACP Misrod Rajneesh Kashyap and includes Katara Hills police station in-charge Sunil Dubey, Bagh Sewania police station in-charge Sanjay Soni and a total of six officers.

Women police personnel have also been included in the SIT. Meanwhile, a separate police team is searching for Samarth Sharma, who remains absconding.

On Sunday, Twisha’s relatives reached the Chief Minister’s residence and sat outside the main gate for several hours demanding action.

Twisha could not find success in film industry

Twisha Sharma, wife of Samarth Sharma, was originally from Noida and was 24 years old.

Before marriage, she had acted in South Indian films in supporting roles. Later, after failing to establish herself successfully in the film industry, she shifted her career path.

She completed an MBA degree and subsequently worked for several years with a Delhi-based company. According to the family, she met Samarth Singh through a dating application. After multiple meetings and with the consent of both families, the couple got married on December 12, 2025.

At the time of marriage, Twisha was employed with a private company and was working from home. Samarth practises law at the district court, while his mother Giribala Singh is a retired district judge.
