The STF shot down Zubair, accused of murdering a teacher at Aligarh Muslim University, in Meerut on Wednesday at 4 AM. SP STF Brijesh Kumar Singh stated that they had received information that Zubair had come to Meerut to commit a murder. He was hiding in a closed factory and waiting for his associates.
When the STF surrounded Zubair based on the information, he opened fire. In retaliatory firing, Zubair was shot in the stomach and chest. He died during treatment at the district hospital.
According to the STF, 36 rounds were fired from both sides. In this, Zubair fired 20 rounds. The encounter took place in the Alipur police station area, 12 km from the city. Zubair was a member of the Munir gang.

Entered the world of crime 11 years ago, joined Munir gang
Zubair was a resident of Nausha village in the Barla police station area of Aligarh. At present, he was living in Shaheen Bagh, Delhi. He had stepped into the world of crime in 2015. In 2017, he joined the Munir gang.
After that, he formed his own separate gang and started smuggling weapons. 24 cases were registered against him in Aligarh and Delhi under sections like murder and robbery.
Fired 5 bullets at AMU teacher On the night of December 24, 2025, at 8:45 PM, AMU teacher Rao Danish Ali was walking out with his friends after strolling in Kennedy Hall Park. Near the Maulana Azad Library canteen, masked men stopped the scooter. He said, ‘Now you will recognise who I am.’ Saying this, the criminal fired bullets rapidly and fled.
The bullet had hit Danish in the head. Friends informed his younger brother, Rao Faraz Ali. Faraz Ali, who was present at Suleman Hall near the incident site, reached the spot within moments and took his blood-soaked brother to the Medical College. There, doctors declared him dead. Rao Danish Ali was a computer teacher at AMU’s ABK Boys School.
At that time, police investigation revealed that Shahbez was murdered in 2018. Zubair, along with his brothers Yasir and Fahad, had carried out this crime. Zubair was sentenced to 7 years in this case. Zubair suspected that Danish had informed the police against him. After this, he had plotted Danish’s murder.

In 3 days, four criminals have been killed in encounters. Before Zubair, on Monday night, Chandauli police killed psycho killer Gurpreet Singh, who had committed murder, in an encounter within 26 hours.
Meanwhile, late Tuesday night in Ghaziabad, police gunned down two criminals, Sameer and Zubair, who had looted ₹27 lakh from a cash van, in an encounter.

- Munir was known as ‘The Killing Machine’ in the criminal world. He was a resident of Bijnor. In 2009-10, he took admission in AMU. During his studies here, Munir became a criminal. He formed his own gang in Aligarh, which was known as ‘The Killing Machine A Gang’.
- Munir had murdered NIA DSP Tanzeel Ahmad and his wife in Bijnor on April 2, 2016. On February 13, 2015, he murdered a railway magistrate’s gunner in Aligarh and looted his pistol. On September 18, 2015, he murdered student Alamgir in broad daylight on the AMU campus.
- In June 2016, STF arrested Munir. He was sentenced to death after being found guilty of the murder of NIA officer Tanzeel Ahmad and his wife, Farzana. On November 20, 2022, Munir died during treatment at BHU.
