Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s brother Prateek Yadav died on Wednesday. He was 38 years old. Around 6 am, he was taken to Lucknow’s Civil Hospital by Aman Singh Bisht, the brother of his wife Aparna Yadav, where doctors declared him dead.
According to Civil Hospital CMS, Dr. DC Pandey, Prateek’s pulse had completely stopped when he was brought in, and his heart was no longer functioning.
Prateek’s wife and BJP leader Aparna Yadav is currently in Assam and has left for Lucknow. The cause of death is not yet known. His post-mortem is being conducted at King George’s Medical University (KGMU). Aparna’s brother, Aman Singh Bisht, is present outside the post-mortem house.
According to sources, Prateek had been admitted to a private hospital in Lucknow in critical condition on April 30. He showed some improvement after three days and later returned home without formally taking discharge from the hospital.
Prateek was the son of Mulayam Singh Yadav’s second wife, Sadhna Gupta. Aparna Yadav is currently the Vice-Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission.

According to sources, Prateek was admitted to a private hospital in Lucknow in critical condition on April 30. He showed slight improvement after three days, following which he reportedly returned home without formal discharge.
Doctors said he was suffering from pulmonary embolism, a serious lung condition in which a blood clot gets stuck in the arteries of the lungs and blocks blood circulation.
Prateek was the son of Sadhna Gupta, the second wife of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Sadhna Gupta was first married to Chandraprakash Gupta in 1986, and Prateek was born in 1987. The couple divorced in 1990.
Around the same time, Sadhna grew close to Mulayam Singh Yadav. In 2003, Mulayam Singh married Sadhna Gupta and publicly acknowledged Prateek as his son.

Prateek studied at the University of Leeds in Britain and remained away from active politics. He was involved in the real estate and fitness business and owned a gym in Lucknow called ‘The Fitness Planet’.
Prateek had married Aparna Yadav in a love marriage 14 years ago. The couple has two daughters. On January 19, Prateek had unexpectedly announced his decision to divorce Aparna, saying that she had made his life “hell”.
However, nine days later, the two reconciled. Prateek later shared a picture with Aparna on Instagram and wrote, “All is Good.”
