In Sonipat, Haryana, 32-year-old Naveen, son of Santosh Kadiyan, State General Secretary of Congress Women’s Wing and Municipal Corporation election candidate, committed suicide. His body was found hanging.
He was actively involved in election campaigning with his mother and was working day and night in this regard. During this time, when his mother went to have food, he took this step.
Preliminary investigation states that the man was ill
The family was shocked to see the son’s body hanging. Police arrived on information and brought down the body from the noose and sent it to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
According to police, preliminary investigation revealed that the young man was ill. He had lost his job two and a half months ago. He was also the father of two daughters. Meanwhile, police have started investigating the case.
Mother filed nomination as independent candidate after not getting ticket
It should be noted that Santosh Kadiyan is the same Congress leader who has adopted a rebellious stance in this civic election.
When the party did not give her a ticket this time, she filed her nomination announcing to contest the election as an independent candidate. Voting will take place on May 10.
On Naveen’s suicide, mother Santosh Kadiyan said that her son took the wrong step.

- Troubled by diabetes, used to work in Rajasthan: According to the deceased’s mother Santosh Kadiyan, Naveen was suffering from sugar (diabetes) disease and many times his sugar level would increase significantly. He used to work in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. About two and a half months ago, he lost his job. His elder daughter is 11 years old, while the younger daughter is two and a half years old. Apart from this, his parents and elder brother Ajay are also in the family. Ajay also has three daughters.
- Was playing active role in mother’s election campaign: Naveen’s mother Santosh Kadiyan is currently contesting the Municipal Corporation Councillor election as an independent candidate from Ward No. 5. After losing his job, Naveen was completely busy with his mother in her election campaign. According to the mother, Naveen was engaged in election campaigning till late at night. He had returned around 4 am in the morning after putting up banners.
- Also worked at the election office during the day: According to mother Santosh, on Thursday during the day he was also active at the election office with his mother. Around 2 PM in the afternoon, she came home to eat. Naveen dropped her back at the office. At that time he appeared quite happy. There was no indication that Naveen could take such a step as suicide.
- Hanged himself in the room built in the house’s upper floor: About half an hour after dropping mother Santosh at the election office, he hanged himself in the room built on the upper floor of the house. As soon as they found out, family members immediately reached the spot, but by then it was too late. The police were informed. The police brought down the body from the noose and sent it for postmortem.

Mother says – ‘There was no quarrel, he took a wrong step’
This sudden incident in Santosh Kadiyan’s family amidst the election atmosphere has shocked everyone. She is extremely grieved over her son’s death. She said, “There was no quarrel or dispute of any kind at home”. She also said that its hard for her to understand why he did this.
Meanwhile, after this incident, a wave of mourning swept through the surrounding area. Apart from relatives, people associated with social and political circles reached their home to express their grief.
Police engaged in investigation, postmortem awaited
In this case, the station in-charge stated that the body has been taken into custody and kept at the civil hospital for post-mortem. The post-mortem will be conducted today (May 1) after which police will be able to investigate the matter.
The officials are investigating the entire matter thoroughly. Apart from illness and job loss, several other points are being investigated to determine the reasons behind the suicide.
