Police investigation into the indiscriminate firing on two students in Morena has revealed a major twist. According to police, it was not an attack, but both youths were injured after a pistol accidentally went off on the scooter. Initial investigation suggests that no assailants had opened fire on them.
DSP Vijay Bhadauria said the two youths were travelling on a scooter on Girls School Road. During the ride, the student sitting pillion allegedly took out a pistol and cocked it, when it suddenly went off. Several rounds were fired one after another, leaving both youths injured.
Police said the sequence became clear after examining CCTV footage from the area. The injured men are undergoing treatment in Gwalior. Police are also investigating where the youths got the pistol from and where they were taking it.

After the incident, the injured were taken to the district hospital.

After primary treatment at the district hospital, both were referred to Gwalior.

Panic spread across the area after the incident. Police rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and launched an investigation. Local residents are being questioned and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined.
However, police are treating the entire sequence of events as suspicious. According to the SI, some contradictions have surfaced between the injured students’ initial statements and the condition of the crime scene. Police said the truth behind the case will become clear only after the investigation is completed.
