Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices have been increased for the second time within 10 days in Madhya Pradesh amid the ongoing Iran conflict.
In Bhopal, the price of CNG has gone up by ₹1 per kilogram and is now being sold at ₹94.75 per kg.
Earlier, on May 16, CNG prices had already been increased by nearly ₹3 per kilogram. The latest hike has been implemented by Think Gas, which supplies CNG in Bhopal and nearby districts.
This marks the third increase in the last two months, taking the cumulative hike to nearly Rs 6 per kilogram.
Three companies supply CNG in Madhya Pradesh
Three major companies — Think Gas, GAIL and Avantika — supply CNG across Madhya Pradesh.
Think Gas supplies CNG in Bhopal, Sehore, Rajgarh, Shivpuri, Vidisha and nearby districts. Avantika supplies CNG in the Indore, Ujjain and Gwalior divisions, while GAIL also operates across several districts in the state.
CNG rates increased at 25 stations in Bhopal
Bhopal has around 152 petrol pumps, of which 12 also provide CNG facilities.
Apart from these, Think Gas operates around 25 CNG stations in locations including Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Neelbad, Hoshangabad Road and Bairagarh Road. The revised prices have been implemented at these stations.
CNG rates have increased in Bhopal.
Sale of CNG vehicles increased by 50 percent
Sales of CNG vehicles in Bhopal have reportedly increased by nearly 50 percent over the past three years.
Automobile showrooms are currently selling around 10 to 15 CNG-based vehicles daily. Dealers attribute the rising demand to better mileage compared to petrol and diesel vehicles, along with comparatively lower fuel costs.
What is CNG and how is it made?
CNG stands for Compressed Natural Gas. It is mainly composed of methane gas and causes significantly less pollution compared to petrol and diesel.
Natural gas is extracted from underground oil and gas reserves. It is then refined in processing plants to remove moisture and impurities.
After purification, the gas is compressed under very high pressure, allowing a large quantity to be stored in a smaller space. The compressed gas is then filled into cylinders and used as fuel in vehicles.
Petrol and Diesel prices also rising
Earlier on Monday, oil companies increased petrol and diesel prices for the fourth time within 11 days.
On May 25, petrol prices were increased by ₹2.61 per litre and diesel by ₹2.71 per litre. In Madhya Pradesh, fuel prices rose by up to ₹3.
Following the latest revision, diesel prices crossed ₹100 per litre in the state, while petrol prices reached ₹116 or more in some places.
According to the new rates:
- Petrol in Bhopal now costs ₹114.65 per litre
- Diesel in Bhopal costs ₹99.74 per litre
Among the state’s major cities, Ujjain has the highest fuel prices, with petrol priced at ₹115.03 per litre and diesel at ₹100.11 per litre.
In Indore, petrol costs ₹114.54 per litre and diesel ₹99.57 per litre. Fuel prices have also increased in Jabalpur and Gwalior.

- May 19, 2026 — Second hike of around 90 paise per litre
- May 23, 2026 — Third hike of 87 to 91 paise per litre
- May 25, 2026 — Fourth hike of nearly ₹3 per litre for both petrol and diesel
