A fire broke out early Wednesday in a three-storey building in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area, damaging electronic goods, electrical items, furniture and fixtures. The blaze was brought under control by the Delhi Fire Service, with no casualties reported.
According to the Delhi Fire Service, the fire started in the basement of the ground-plus-three-storey building, which is spread over around 350 square yards. The flames quickly spread, affecting all floors of the building.
Fire brought under control by 6:30 am
Fire tenders rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. Officials said the blaze was brought under control at around 6:30 am.
As of 7:05 am, no injuries or fatalities had been reported.
“Fire broke out in a basement, ground-plus-three-storey building spread over approximately 350 sq. yards. The blaze affected electronic goods, electrical goods, furniture and fixtures on all floors. The fire was brought under control at 6:30 AM. As of 7:05 AM, officials confirmed no casualties had been reported,” the Delhi Fire Service said in a statement.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and further details are awaited.
Separate fire breaks out at Parikrama restaurant
In a separate incident on Tuesday, a major fire broke out in the kitchen of Parikrama Restaurant on Barakhamba Road in central Delhi.
The Delhi Fire Service received the call at around 3:40 pm, following which seven fire tenders, including a specialised Bronto Sky Lift rescue vehicle, were sent to the spot.
Fire confined to kitchen chimney
According to Fire Department official Mukesh Verma, the fire was found burning inside the kitchen chimney and the accumulated oil within it.
The blaze was brought under control without any casualties.
“At 15:40, the fire control room received a report of a fire in the kitchen of Parikrama Restaurant. Fire tenders from the nearest station and our specialised Bronto Sky Lift, deployed for rescue operations, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, fire service personnel found the fire burning within the kitchen chimney and the accumulated oil inside it,”Verma told ANI.
The exact cause of the restaurant fire is also under investigation.
