A massive fire broke out at the Vidyashree Solvent Plant on Amarpatan Road in Satna district late Monday night after a boiler exploded inside the factory. The powerful blast created panic in the nearby area and forced workers to run for safety.
Machine operator Dilawar Singh alias Pinku Tighra (45) died after getting trapped in the flames and being burnt alive. Another worker, Mannu Kewat, suffered injuries in the accident and was admitted to the district hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses said work was going on inside the plant when the boiler suddenly exploded. The fire quickly spread across the premises, leading to chaos and a stampede among employees. Dilawar Singh could not escape the fire in time.
After the incident, angry locals and workers blocked the Amarpatan-Satna road and protested against the accident. According to initial information, the solvent plant was operating inside the premises of a rice mill owned by city bullion trader Saurabh Jain. The unit had reportedly been rented to a businessman from Bihar for nearly ₹8 lakh per month.

Upon receiving information, several fire tenders reached the spot. It took hours of effort to control the fire in the large stock of husk. Firefighters remained engaged in relief and rescue operations until late at night.

Upon receiving information about the incident, administration and police officials, including City SDM Rahul Siladia, CSP Devendra Singh, and Kotwali TI Ravindra Dwivedi, reached the spot.
Officials inspected the scene and have started an investigation. After the accident, angry people blocked the road. Police are trying to persuade them.
