Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday concluded his visit to the United Arab Emirates and departed for the Netherlands as part of his five-nation tour. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan personally saw off the Prime Minister at the airport, underlining the close ties between the two nations.

Prime Minister Modi and President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held bilateral talks. The two countries signed an important agreement on LPG supply. In addition, MoUs were signed on strategic petroleum reserves, defence cooperation, and the ship repair cluster in Vadinar.

The UAE also announced an investment of $5 billion in Indian infrastructure, RBL Bank, and Sammaan Capital. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the two leaders discussed energy security, trade, investment, and the situation in West Asia.

Earlier, PM Modi arrived in Abu Dhabi as part of his visit to the UAE. On arrival in Abu Dhabi, he was given an official welcome. According to reports, UAE Air Force F-16 fighter jets escorted the Prime Minister’s aircraft.

UAE to increase crude oil production

The UAE recently announced its decision to leave OPEC, the world’s largest oil-exporting organisation. The UAE plans to increase its crude oil production to 5 million barrels per day by 2027. Consequently, negotiations on long-term energy agreements between Indian companies and UAE companies are expected.
