‘In 13 years, my life was destroyed. I was raped. Whenever I protested, I was beaten naked. I was beaten for not reading the namaz. I had 5 nikahs and had to endure halala twice.’
This is the statement of a 31-year-old Hindu woman living in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Her allegation is that a Muslim youth befriended her on Facebook, posing as a Hindu. After that, he called me to Uttar Pradesh to meet. Here I was held captive.
Then, I was forcibly converted. After that, I was married off to a Maulana who was 25 years older than me. Then the Maulana gave me triple talaq. After that, my halala was performed, and I was married off at another place. In this way, I had 5 nikahs, and halala was performed twice.
The woman had filed a case on May 5 at Ankur Vihar police station against 16 people, including 13 named accused. Police arrested one accused on May 7. Dainik Bhaskar spoke to the woman and understood her pain.

The woman said that I was forcibly converted. When I protested, I was stripped and beaten.
I was 18 years old and studying BBA. During this time in the year 2012, I became friends on Facebook with a boy living in Muzaffarnagar. He told me his name was Naveen Rana. We both started talking.
One day, Naveen Rana came to Indore to meet me. He gave me a mobile and a SIM. After staying there for a few days, Naveen returned to Muzaffarnagar. In 2013, Naveen called me to Delhi. At his request, I reached Delhi from Indore.
I met Naveen in Delhi. From there, he took me to a madrasa located in Falat, Muzaffarnagar. After staying here for 2 days, Naveen said that my mother had an accident, and I am going to Dehradun. Naveen left me at the madrasa and went to Dehradun. Here I came to know that Naveen’s real name is Naved.
I was married to a Maulana, 25 years older than me, in the madrasa
After Naveen left, I was held captive there. Maulana Kaleem of Falat forcibly converted my religion. I was made to wear a burqa. I protested and said that I am not Muslim. After this, I was beaten. I was told that you have now become Muslim and will stay here.
After keeping me there for 6-7 days, I was brought to a madrasa near the bus stand in Meerut. Other women lived there. I remained captive in that same madrasa in Meerut for 6 months. After this, I was again taken to Falat in Muzaffarnagar. Here I was forcibly married to Abdur Rahman, who is 25 years older than me.
Abdur Rahman used to rape me every day. When I would resist, he would strip me naked and beat me. He would drag me by my hair. He would ask me to read namaz. When I refused, he would beat me.
After 2 months, Abdur Rahman took me back to Maulana Kaleem in Phalat. He said that she doesn’t know how to talk to her husband properly. After this, Abdur Rahman gave me triple talaq.
The woman said that I was married 5 times and halala was performed twice. I was tortured for 13 years.
3 months of iddat after divorce
After the divorce from Abdur Rahman, I was kept with Maulana Kaleem again. After this, I had to stay in Iddat for 3 months in a madrasa in Meerut. From there, I was taken to a madrasa in Jaipur. Here, I was raped for five days in the name of halala.
When I protested, I was held hostage and beaten with kicks and slaps. After keeping me there for a few days, I was brought to the Shamli district. Here in 2015, my second nikah was performed with Mudsir. After the nikah, he took me to Gujarat. There he worked as a welder.
In 2019, Mudsir died. I had now become homeless. I had no contact with my family members. There, I met a maulana named Aslam.
Nikah was performed with Khalid Hussain in Baghpat
Maulana Qari Aslam took me from Gujarat to a religious place in Shaheen Bagh, Delhi. Then he took me from Delhi to Saharanpur and from Saharanpur to Baghpat. There, my third nikah was performed with Khalid Hussain.
Khalid told me that my first wife had died. Khalid Hussain lived on rent in Loni, Ghaziabad. So he took me to Ghaziabad. After staying here for a few days, Khalid and his family members started harassing me.
In 2022, Khalid divorced me. After this, Khalid’s mother said that he had given a divorce in anger. Now, where will you stay? Then Khalid said that I will marry you only when your halala is done.
After this, Khalid took me to Baghpat. There, Khalid got my fourth nikah performed with his brother-in-law, Fakruddin. After this, Khalid and his brother, Sakib, gang-raped me. Then he divorced me and said now you can marry Khalid.
After this, Maulana Furqan performed my fifth nikah with Khalid. Khalid started torturing me. I somehow escaped from Khalid’s clutches and reached BJP MLA Nand Kishore.
He helped me get justice. After this, I went to the police station on May 5 and filed a report narrating the entire story. Currently, I am living alone in a rented house near the Delhi border in Ghaziabad.
Police arrested her husband, Khalid Hussain, on the woman’s complaint. Khalid had performed the third and fifth nikah with the woman.
Case registered against these people
The woman has registered a case at Ankur Vihar police station in Ghaziabad against 16 people, including Naveen Rana alias Naved (Ghaziabad), Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui, his wife and daughter-in-law, Abdul Rahman, Maulana Bilal, Qari Aslam, Hafiz Nawab, Maulana Rashid, Fakhruddin, Maulana Furqan Qureshi, Khalid Hussain, and Shakib.
She has leveled allegations against them, including forced religious conversion, multiple nikahs, halala, rape, physical and mental torture, and death threats. Police have arrested the accused Khalid Hussain and sent him to jail.
Ghaziabad’s DCP Rural Surendranath Tiwari said that a case has been registered on the woman’s complaint. The victim has lived in different places. The crime scenes have also been stated to be at various locations.
Police are recording the victim’s statement and conducting further investigation. One accused has been arrested and sent to jail. Action will also be taken against the other accused.
