4 dead in UP–Rajasthan storms:Hail hits Haryana, Uttarakhand; landslide shuts Baramulla–Uri road

Unsettled weather continues across parts of India, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar and Uttarakhand. In Rajasthan, three people died on Sunday due to severe weather. Hailstorms were reported in Lalsot (Dausa) and Narayanpur (Kotputli-Behror).

In Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, one person died after a tree branch fell on a mill. Storms uprooted electricity poles in Farrukhabad, while a tree fell on a railway track in Kanpur.

In Haryana, heavy rain with hail was recorded in Sirsa, Bhiwani and Mahendragarh. Rain was also reported in 11 districts of Uttarakhand, with hail in Nainital, Dehradun and Almora.

The Baramulla–Uri National Highway was closed after a landslide in Laghama in Jammu and Kashmir. Traffic has been diverted via the Bandi–Paranpilan–Dachi route.

On Sunday, temperatures reached 44.8°C in Phalodi, Rajasthan, and 43.5°C in Wardha, Maharashtra. The India Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for 13 states today, while thunderstorms with lightning are likely in 10 states.

May 5:

Rain with lightning is expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

A yellow alert for thunderstorms and rain has been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha.

Heavy rain is likely in parts of Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

May 6:

Rain is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

A yellow alert for thunderstorms and rain is in place for Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha.

Rain with lightning is expected in West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya.
