AAP has 10 MPs in the Rajya Sabha, seven from Punjab and three from Delhi. Chadha’s announcement will leave AAP with just three MPs in the Rajya Sabha: Sanjay Singh (Delhi), ND Gupta (Delhi), and water activist Balbir Singh Sichewal (Punjab).
In a major blow to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, along with two other MPs, announced their departure from the party. Along with him, Rajya Sabha MPs Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal also left the AAP. The three leaders, along with two-thirds of the AAP’s seven MPs, announced their intention to join the BJP. Interestingly, Ashok Mittal, whom Kejriwal had appointed deputy leader of the Rajya Sabha 15 days ago after replacing Raghav Chadha, is also now joining the BJP.
Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha leveled serious allegations against Arvind Kejriwal, saying that AAP has completely deviated from its core principles. He said, “The AAP, which I nurtured with my blood for 15 years, has lost its way. Now it is working not for the national interest but for personal gain.” He said that all the leaders worked hard together to expand the party in Delhi, Punjab, and other states, but now the situation has changed. I am moving away from AAP and coming back to the public.
On his decision to join the BJP, Raghav Chadha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He said that over the past 12 years, the central government has taken decisions that many leaders were afraid to take. The public has approved this leadership three times, and now we will work for the country under that leadership.
Raghav Chadha further said, “AAP has 10 MPs in the Rajya Sabha, and more than two-thirds of them are with us in this campaign. They have already signed, and this morning we submitted all the necessary documents, including signed letters and other formal papers, to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. As I mentioned, more than two-thirds of the MPs are supporting us, and we will provide you with the full list soon.”
