A minor girl was allegedly harassed by a group of youths on a road in Samastipur, Bihar, in an incident that police are investigating.
A video of the alleged incident has surfaced on social media. It is reportedly from near the bypass embankment along the Budhi Gandak river in the Karpurigram police station area.
The video reportedly reached Samastipur Police at around 10.30 pm on Wednesday. Police conducted raids at several locations in the Karpurigram area and detained five people for questioning.
Girl repeatedly asks youths to let her go
The 56-second video shows a girl standing on the road while several youths appear to be surrounding and harassing her.
One youth wearing a vest is seen repeatedly holding her hand. When she objects, another youth appears to attempt to hit her.
The girl can be heard repeatedly asking them to let her go. At one point, she says, “Wait, I will call my brother.” The youths allegedly respond, “Okay, call him.”
Towards the end of the video, the girl moves towards a youth standing beside a motorcycle. He is seen without a shirt and wearing a vest.

The youth standing near the motorcycle appears to be using a mobile phone. The girl stands quietly beside him, while the other youths remain nearby.
He appears to search for a number on his phone and tries to speak to someone. Police are investigating the identities and roles of everyone seen in the video.
Police trying to identify girl and youths
Samastipur Police have launched an investigation and are attempting to identify the youths and the minor girl seen in the video.
Police are also trying to establish when and where the video was recorded.
Superintendent of Police Arvind Pratap Singh said police received information about the viral video at around 10.30pm on Wednesday.
He said efforts were underway to identify the people seen in the video. Once the minor is identified, police will record her statement and take further legal action.
If the girl cannot be identified, police will register a case on their own and initiate action against the youths seen in the video, the SP said.
