Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated the Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets to win the IPL 2026 title, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 31 May. Virat Kohli played a magnificent 75-run unbeaten knock that helped RCB win the title for a second consecutive time.

Batting first, Gujarat Titans were restricted to just 155/8 on the back of a superb performance by the RCB bowlers led by Rasikh Salam Dar. In response, RCB hunted down the target in 18 overs to clinch silverware. From Virat Kohli arguing with Shubman Gill over a controversial catch to the RCB legend hitting the winning runs, the match had many top moments. Let’s take a look.

1) Virat Kohli argues with Shubman Gill over controversial catch

One of the most interesting moments of the match saw Virat Kohli arguing with Shubman Gill over his catch. This happened in the second innings of the match when Kohli attempted a drive but hit it in the air, and Gill appeared to take a catch at mid-off by diving forward.

But Kohli was not very sure if the catch was clean, and the matter was referred to the third umpire, who ruled that some part of the ball was touching the ground. Kohli was seen confronting Gill over the catch and talking to him over the catch. After the catch was ruled out, Kohli was seen celebrating as well.

Kohli was seen chatting with Sooryavanshi after the youngster swept a majority of the awards of the season, in the IPL 2026 post-match presentation ceremony. He was seen folding his hands as Kohli walked up to meet him.

The 15-year-old walked home with a total of five major accolades, which included the Most Valuable Player and Emerging Player of the Season awards. After the award ceremony, Kohli was seen having a chat with Sooryavanshi, and the RR youngster listened very keenly to what the RCB legend had to say. Earlier this season, Kohli had gifted an autographed bat to Sooryavanshi, which the latter had sported on a number of occasions.

3) Virat Kohli performs unique gesture, blows kisses after RCB’s win

After hitting the winning six in the final, Kohli made a gesture with his right hand. After that, he was seen raising his hands in celebration and blowing kisses, presumably at his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, who was seated in the stands at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

4) Mohammed Siraj and Venkatesh Iyer’s tense exchange

Mohammed Siraj gave a send-off to Venkatesh Iyer after dismissing him in the match. This happened in the fifth over of the chase when Iyer was dismissed by Siraj off a short ball. After Iyer’s catch was taken, Siraj stared at him, giving him a send-off as he walked off the field.

5) Virat Kohli throws his pads towards fans after victory

Kohli was seen gifting his pads to the fans after the match. After hitting the winning six which sealed the title for RCB, Kohli was walking back to the dressing room when he took off his pads and hurled them at the fans in the stands, who were happy to grab them.

6) Phil Salt pours bucket of ice on Andy Flower

Phil Salt was seen turning a bucket of ice onto RCB head coach Andy Flower after the match. Since joining RCB, Flower has achieved immense success, leading the team to back-to-back titles. Salt, who has been part of both of RCB’s title wins, poured a bucket of ice straight on Flower’s back to celebrate the coach’s success.

7) Jordan Cox’s catch to dismiss Washington Sundar ruled out

Jordan Cox’s catch to dismiss Washington Sundar was ruled out by the third umpire in this match. This happened on the last ball of the 10th over when Cox, the substitute fielder, took a catch at fine leg after Sundar hit the pull shot.

The catch was referred to the third umpire, who felt that some part of the ball touched the grass as Cox landed. The catch was eventually ruled out.

8) Kohli, Krunal dance at team hotel

While the party in the RCB camp continued till late night, the team’s official handle shared a glimpse of Krunal Pandya and Virat Kohli dancing upon their arrival at the hotel.

After RCB’s title win celebrations began, the franchise also shared visuals of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma dancing at the team hotel.

10. Rajat Patidar dances to dhol beats, Rasikh Dar celebrates sitting on dhol

After arriving at the team hotel, RCB captain Rajat Patidar was captured grooving and dancing to the dhol beats at team hotel. The celebrations turned jovial as Rasikh Dar sat on dhol and danced while doing so.
