Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in one of the most memorable clashes of IPL 2026, at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on 14 May. Chasing 201 to win, Tilak Varma hit a six in the final over as MI came out on top with one ball to spare, registering their fourth win this year.

Tilak Varma was the star of the show for the Mumbai Indians in Dharamshala, hitting an unbeaten 75 off 33 balls. After hitting a six off Xavier Bartlett in the last over, Tilak, while celebrating the victory, was seen gesturing ‘45’, which is Rohit’s jersey number and calling out ‘Rohit bhai’, trying to attract the Hitman’s attention.
3) Yuzvendra Chahal’s animated celebration after dismissing Rohit Sharma
Yuzvendra Chahal was absolutely pumped up after dismissing Rohit Sharma in the match. This happened in the 10th over of the second innings when Rohit was totally outfoxed by a ball he missed, which went on to hit the off-stump. Chahal jumped in joy and celebrated the dismissal as he made an impact at that point in the match. The veteran spinner, who is the highest wicket-taker in IPL history, did not get to bowl in Punjab’s last match against the Delhi Capitals at this same venue.

5) Tilak Varma shows abs, performs special celebration after MI’s win
Tilak Varma was the star of the show for the Mumbai Indians in their sensational win over the Punjab Kings in Dharamshala. The left-hander smashed 75 runs off just 33 balls, a knock that included six fours and six sixes. He hit the winning shot, a six to fetch MI just their fourth win of the season. After the victory, Tilak leaped in joy and performed a special celebration by lifting up his left hand and putting his right hand onto his right ear. He also went on to show his abs after the victory.

6) Tilak Varma smashes massive 106m six
The left-handed Tilak was in full flow in Dharamshala and one of the highlights of his match-winning knock was a massive six he hit off Chahal in the 16th over. Tilak got down on one knee and absolutely smoked the ball out of the park, with it going for a massive 106m over the long-on fence. The ball struck the roof of the stadium as the commentators were left stunned by that hit. This was the joint-longest six of the season, with David Miller (vs Gujarat Titans) and Tim David (vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru) also having hit 106m maximums earlier this season.
7) Cooper Connolly hits 102m six against Raghu Sharma
In the eighth over of the first innings, Punjab Kings batter Cooper Connolly hits a 102m six against Raghu Sharma on the first ball of the over. The ball was overpitched and Connolly sent it flying over the long-on fence for a massive hit.
8) Raj Bawa’s flying catch to dismiss Suryansh Shedge
In the 14th over of the first innings, Raj Angad Bawa took a terrific ‘flying’ catch at short midwicket and the in-form Shedge. The ball bowled by Shardul Thakur was on Suryansh’s pads and the right-hander flicked it aerially. The ball went towards the short midwicket, where Bawa flew to his left and hung onto a great catch.

1) Rohit Sharma equals Virat Kohli
Although he failed to score big, Rohit Sharma equalled Virat Kohli in terms of playing the most matches in the IPL. Both Rohit and Virat have now played 279 matches each, the most in the IPL. MS Dhoni is third on this list with 278 matches to his name.
2) Mumbai become first team with three captains this season
Mumbai became the first team to play with three different captains in IPL 2026. Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah have captained MI this year. Before this, in IPL history, Mumbai, Pune Warriors, Hyderabad, and Punjab have played with three captains in a single season.
