Salman Khan lashed out at trolls during Saturday’s second ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode of Bigg Boss 20. He spoke against body-shaming and age-shaming, saying that he too had been called “old”. He then removed his T-shirt during the show and showed his abs.
Spoke about trolling on social media
Salman’s remarks came after Katrina Kaif was recently trolled. Referring to contestant ScoutOP’s comments about social media and the gaming community, Salman said social media had become a major profession.
He said gaming, content creation, video editing, and other social media-related work provide employment and recognition to many people, but trolling is another side of the same platform.
Salman questioned why there was a need to make money by humiliating someone else.
Salman explained that when someone is moving ahead, it is often those who have been left behind themselves who try to pull them down.
He said that the person you are abusing, whose body and weight you are commenting on and whose looks you are making fun of, is in some way becoming part of your content and earnings.
‘You are writing filthy things about their body, weight and looks’
Salman listed several forms of trolling. He said that on social media, people have started commenting on someone’s body, weight, looks, family, smile, failures and even their becoming a mother.
Referring to such comments, he said that on social media, people say things such as, “She looks ugly,” “She has become fat” or “He has grown old.”
“If you are troubled by your own face, why do you look at others?”
Salman asked the trolls why, if a person is so uncomfortable with their face or body that they are troubled by their own identity, they comment on the body and looks of someone they may never even have met.
Salman said that a person who trolls a celebrity on social media does not know what circumstances the person on the other side is going through privately.
Salman also mentioned the families of those who troll others. He said that the trolls may have a mother, father, sister, wife, girlfriend, daughter or brother in their own homes. In such a situation, they should think about how they would feel if a similar comment were made about a member of their own family.
‘This happened to me too – “You have grown old”‘
Salman then mentioned the trolling he had faced over his age and looks. He said that people had also been constantly writing on social media that he had grown old.
Salman said, “You have grown old – of course, I have turned 60.” Acknowledging this, he said that growing older is natural.

Salman also responded to those who comment on women’s bodies
Salman also referred to the online comments made about women’s bodies. He said that when a woman becomes a mother, it is natural for her to gain weight during pregnancy.
He questioned why people troll women over the changes in their bodies after they become mothers.
Salman said that when the woman returns to work, she may also focus on her fitness, but it is her personal decision how much time she wants to spend with her family and what she wants to do with her body.
Although Salman did not name anyone, his remark was seen as a reference to the body-shaming of Katrina Kaif on social media after her pregnancy.
‘Social media is also being used to spread love’
Salman also made it clear that he does not consider social media entirely negative. He said that many people are doing good work on social media.
Salman said that there are also people who help those in need, provide useful information, say positive things and offer people the right advice.
Salman once tracked a troll down to his home
Salman also pointed to the dangerous side of trolling. He said that if he asked his fan club to reveal the identities of some people who write false things about him, a great deal of personal information about them could come to light.
Salman also recounted an old incident. He said that around 8-10 years ago, a person was writing extremely objectionable things about him. With the help of the cyber cell, he got the person’s identity and address traced and reached his home.
According to Salman, the person’s parents were educated and there were other members in the family as well. He told the person that, if he wished, they could make information about his identity and family public. Salman said that the person apologised to him after this.
Salman Khan spoke about the trolling faced by Sohail Khan and Varun Dhawan.
Sohail Khan lost around 12 kg last month. He was subsequently trolled over his gaunt face and loose-fitting clothes.
After the trailer for the film ‘Border 2’ was released, Varun Dhawan’s ‘smile’ was heavily trolled on social media, and several memes were made about it.
Salman said that trolls target not only artists, but also actors, influencers and politicians. He said that if someone does not like another person’s work, they can simply say that they did not like it or did not like the film. Questions can also be raised about a minister’s work, but there is no need to use abusive language.
Referring to his own experience, he said that he is trolled as well. Sometimes people comment on his hair or appearance and say that he has gone bald, even though it may be part of his look for a film. Salman said that he tries to turn criticism to his advantage. If he is praised, he tries to do even better, and if he is criticised, he tries to prove his critics wrong.
However, he said that not everyone is the same. Many people slip into depression because of constant false and insulting comments.
Salman said, “We do not want to get involved in this”
Salman said that many people in the industry do not want to express their views on the political issues unfolding in the country. This is their personal decision.
The actor said that some people do not want to comment on the political aspect of what is happening in the country. “We don’t want to do it; it is our choice. We are not aware of it, we don’t want to get involved, and why should we? So that a journalist can ask us questions and then run them on social media or television to gain TRPs?”
He further said, “We don’t want to be part of this. This is your job. Go and find out what the truth is, then come and tell us. You have to provide us with the information and tell us. You don’t need to come to us to get our opinion or comment.”
Salman says-If you don’t like the film, don’t watch it
Salman Khan said, “If you don’t want to watch the film, then don’t watch it. This new thing has started-‘You have become who you are because of us.’ We respect our fans, but does that mean you should treat us this way? You bought a ticket to watch the film, not to buy us, mate. We make every effort from our side so that you enjoy the film.”
Salman said his health is perfectly fine
