Ranveer Singh’s Kantara Mimicry Row: For the past few months, actor Ranveer Singh has been in the news for one reason or another. He was embroiled in a controversy for imitating the role of Rishabh Shetty in the film ‘Kantara’. Now he has got a big relief in this matter.

Mumbai: The Karnataka High Court has given a big relief to Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, who is embroiled in a controversy over the impersonation of a divine character in the film ‘Kantara’. The court has accepted Ranveer’s new unconditional apology and affidavit in the case and has indicated that the criminal proceedings (FIR) against him will be quashed.

What is the whole matter?

In 2025, at an event at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Ranveer Singh had imitated a ‘Daiva’ or a holy deity while praising Rishabh Shetty’s performance in the film ‘Kantara’. While speaking, he mistakenly referred to this holy power as ‘Bhoot’. Due to this, Bengaluru-based lawyer Prashant Methal had filed an FIR against Ranveer, alleging that the ‘Bhoot Kola’ tradition of coastal Karnataka and insulting religious sentiments.
