Rajpura-Shambhu Blast: Security agencies are also looking into it from the perspective of a terrorist conspiracy. Along with the local police, the Railway Crime Branch and intelligence agencies are involved in the investigation. According to sources, an NIA team may also visit the incident site soon.
An IED blast took place on Monday night on the Ambala-Amritsar rail freight corridor line in Rajpura, Patiala. The incident took place near the Rajpura-Shambhu railway station, causing damage to the track. At the scene, police found a body, whose body was in tatters.
Patiala SSP Varun Sharma said that the same person was fitting a bomb on the railway track, but it exploded, due to which he also died. The deceased has been identified as Jagroop Singh, a resident of Panjwar Khurd village in Tarn Taran.
Railway Special DGP Shashi Prabha Duvedi said that after the blast, a goods train passed here. When it got shocked, it gave further information, after which the incident was discovered. He said that the bike of the person who died in the blast has been recovered from Amritsar. A mobile phone has also been found from him, through which his connections are being investigated. He said that Pakistan may be behind this.
