Kranti Gaud gets fine, demerit point after Women’s Asia Cup:Pacer gave send-off to Imesha Dulani in final; Pakistan also penalised

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined India women’s team fast bowler Kranti Gaud after the Women’s Asia Cup final. After dismissing Sri Lankan batter Imesha Dulani in the match, she gestured towards the pavilion.

Kranti has been fined 10% of her match fee and has also been handed one demerit point. Pakistan, meanwhile, has been fined 5% of their match fee for a slow over rate in the semi-final.

  • The incident occurred in the first over of Sri Lanka’s innings. Kranti bowled Imesha. She then gestured towards the pavilion. She was found guilty under Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
  • Level 1 breaches can attract a formal warning or a fine of up to 50% of a player’s match fee. One or two demerit points may also be awarded.
  • This is Gaud’s first offence in a 24-month period. She admitted the offence and accepted the proposed sanction from match referee Supriya Das.

Pakistan bowled one over short of the allotted time

Pakistan were fined for maintaining a slow over rate in the semi-final against Sri Lanka. Match referee GS Lakshmi imposed the sanction. Even after taking time allowances into account, Pakistan were found to have bowled one over short of the required number within the allotted time.

Under Rule 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, players are fined 5% of their match fee for every over their team falls short of completing within the allotted time.
