Chandigarh: Man arrested for duping vendor by posing as MC official

The UT police have arrested a 35-year-old resident of Sector 41 for impersonating a municipal corporation (MC) inspector and duping vendors by giving them fake vendors’ license. According to the police, Rajesh Kumar has been arrested after the case was registered at the Sector 39 police station.

Mukesh Giri and Navneet Chawla, members of town vending committee of the MC alleged that a vendor selling his goods infront of park sector 41 came to them and reported that one person claiming to be a MC Inspector was issuing fake vendor licences.

When they verified the said documents, the same were found to be fake. They said the fake inspector took ₹1000 to 1500 from the poor vendors and cheated them. He had just started the venture and was caught after duping the first vendor. A case has been registered under Sections 318(4), 319(2), 338, 336(3) and 340 of BNS.
