Businessman and former IPL chairman Lalit Modi recently called his former partner Sushmita Sen special. He also dismissed the ‘gold digger’ (someone who maintains a relationship for money) allegations against the actress, stating that the actress paid for everything.
Lalit Modi stated that Sushmita has been a very special part of his life. He said, ‘Sushmita taught me a lot and played a significant role in refining my personality. We had a very beautiful relationship, but due to distance and career, we couldn’t stay together.’
He praised Sushmita profusely, saying that she is still a very good friend of his. Lalit said, ‘She is a wonderful woman. As a single mother, she has raised her two daughters, Renee and Alisah, excellently. I am always amazed by her achievements.’

Called himself Sushmita’s ‘kept boyfriend’
Calling Sushmita a ‘self-made woman’, Lalit said, ‘She is a very rich woman. She has achieved all this on her own. It never happened that I went out with Sushmita and had to pay for anything. She used to pay for everything. I was like a kept boyfriend (whose expenses are borne by the partner).’
Meanwhile, after the news of Sushmita and Lalit’s relationship, some users on social media called the actress a ‘gold digger’. To this, Lalit Modi responded to the trolls, saying, ‘She is a self-made woman, and she will never accept anything from anyone. So when someone says she is a ‘gold digger’, no. Lalit was the ‘diamond digger’; I was more of a diamond digger than she was a gold digger. As far as she is concerned, I hoped to be her diamond digger, because she was truly a diamond.’
Lalit also revealed that he had informed Sushmita before posting a picture of their relationship on social media. However, Sushmita did not think he would actually post it.

In July 2022, Lalit Modi publicly announced his relationship by sharing pictures with Sushmita Sen on social media. In February 2025, Lalit Modi confirmed his breakup with Sushmita Sen through a video post and spoke about his new partner, Reema Bohra.

Rumours of their marriage started spreading due to Lalit’s post. After which, he clarified that the two have not gotten married.
