The Indian Wushu team for the Asian Games, starting September 19 in Japan, was announced on June 23. However, the Sports Ministry released an update on September 11, excluding previously announced team member Divyanshi Chaudhary and including Naorem Roshibina Devi. Following this, a video of Divyanshi surfaced in which she is seen crying and saying she was unfairly excluded from the team.
Divyanshi, a resident of Kota, Rajasthan, raised several questions about the Wushu Federation in a nearly 9-minute video. In the video, Divyanshi is seen crying and saying, “Forgive me, Mom and Dad, I’m talking about suicide.”
Finally, she pointed the camera towards the roof of her house and said that this was her last video. Divyanshi said that she had even been offered an Indian jersey for the Asian Games, but her name was removed at the last minute.
Divyanshi revealed that she had even received her Asian Games jersey. After that, her name was removed from the Wushu team.
Federation says she is injured, Divyanshi declares herself fit
When asked about this, Jitendra Singh, President of the Wushu Association of India, said that Divyanshi is injured and is not being sent to the Asian Games.
Divyanshi says that she attended a 10-day camp in Srinagar to prepare for the Asian Games. During this time, she suffered a shoulder injury during a match against Roshibina. She missed four to five days of practice due to the injury, but later recovered and played again. She then participated in international tournaments.
Divyanshi explained that she had shown the injury to a doctor. The doctor advised her to play with taping. She also stated that her MRI report was with her coach and the federation, and the doctor’s prescription stated she was fit to play.
Divyanshi’s report is from a private doctor, while SAI’s report is different.
Jitendra Singh said that the report on which Divyanshi is claiming herself fit is from a private doctor. The Sports Authority of India has a different medical report, which states that Divyanshi is not fully fit. Winning a medal at the Asian Games is our biggest goal, so we couldn’t send an unfit athlete.
Defeated Roshibina in the final trial, yet her name was struck off.
Divyanshi claims that she had defeated two-time Asian Games medallist Roshibina Devi in the 60kg category in the final selection trials for the Asian Games held in June.
She claims that despite her strong performance in the trials, she was dropped from the team. Divyanshi questions why she was denied a chance to compete in the Asian Games when she defeated Roshibina in the final trials.
Naorem Roshibina Devi won a silver medal at the Asian Games 2022. Divyanshi has claimed to defeat her in the Wushu trials.

In the last part of the video, Divyanshi becomes emotional. She apologizes to her parents and says that she never wanted to commit suicide, but now she has to.
She then talks about loving her parents. Finally, she shows off her kit, points the camera at the roof of the house, and says this is her last video.
Father said – I was selected, I received the kit and the ceremony also took place.
Divyanshi’s father, Sunil Kumar Sunda, said that his daughter had placed first in the final selection trials held in Jammu and Kashmir. She defeated a player from Chandigarh in the final to take the top spot.
According to her father, Divyanshi then spent nearly three months preparing at the SAI Indian Wushu Team camp. He says that her daughter suffered a shoulder injury at the Srinagar camp, but despite this, she competed in an international tournament in China and won a silver medal.
Sunil Kumar claims that his daughter had been selected for the Asian Games. She received her kit, the ceremony took place, and her final entry for Japan was confirmed. After this, his daughter’s name was removed internally and replaced with Roshibina Devi’s.
After her name was included in the Asian Games, Divyanshi also received the Indian team kit.
Answer to the allegation of intentional injury
Divyanshi and her father have alleged that Roshibina Devi deliberately injured Divyanshi’s shoulder during the Srinagar camp.
The president of the Wushu Association denied the allegations. He said that Wushu is a martial art and injuries can occur during competition. He said that it is not appropriate to say that any athlete intentionally caused the injury.
Bajwa also said that Roshibina Devi is a two-time Asian Games winner and the player whose name is being mentioned has her own international record.
Won bronze in Junior World, silver in China
Divyanshi competes in the 60 kg category of Sanda. She has previously won medals for India at the international level. She won a bronze medal in the 60 kg category at the 2024 Junior World Wushu Championships.
She also won a silver medal at the Member Wushu Tournament in China in June 2026. She has been training at the Mahabali Sports Academy in Kota since 2017. She has won 12 gold medals at various levels for Rajasthan.
Asian Games from September 19, Wushu competitions from September 20 to 24
The 20th Asian Games will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026. The wushu competitions will be held from September 20 to 24. The Indian wushu team consists of seven athletes: three men and four women.
The men include Suraj Singh Mayanglambam, Aryan and Vikrant Baliyan, while the women include Nyeman Wangsu, Aparna, Roshibina Devi and Langlantomby Devi Hanjabam.
