The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination will be held on 21 June after the original test, conducted on 3 May, was cancelled on 12 May following allegations of a paper leak.
Ahead of the re-exam, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an advisory for candidates, detailing the dress code, security checks, documents required and other important exam-day rules.

1. What is the NTA’s latest advisory for Re-NEET 2026 candidates?
The NTA has asked candidates to strictly follow the prescribed dress code, carry all required documents and reach the examination centre well before the reporting time. Students have also been advised to ignore rumours and rely only on official communication.
2. What is the dress code for the examination?
Candidates are expected to wear simple and comfortable clothing in accordance with the NTA guidelines. Religious attire permitted under the rules may also be worn.
3. Which items are allowed and which are banned at the exam centre?
Items such as a kalawa, turban and hijab are allowed.
However, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smart watches, electronic gadgets and heavy jewellery are strictly prohibited inside the examination centre.
4. What documents must candidates carry?
Candidates should carry:
- Re-NEET 2026 admit card
- Passport-size photograph
- Valid photo identity card
- PwD/PwBD certificate, if applicable
Candidates who fail to carry the required documents may face difficulties during verification.
5. What are the exam timings and reporting time?
The examination will be held from 2 pm to 5:15 pm.
Security checks at examination centres will begin from 11 am. Entry to the examination centre will close at 1:30 pm and no candidate will be allowed to enter after that time. Students are therefore advised to reach their centres well in advance.
More than 5 lakh security personnel, over 6,000 supervisors and 674 city coordinators will monitor the examination process.
6. Will biometric verification be mandatory?
Yes. All candidates will have to undergo biometric verification after completing the security check and before entering the examination hall.
The verification process will include fingerprint authentication and facial recognition.
7. What happens if biometric verification fails?
Candidates will still be allowed to appear for the examination if biometric verification cannot be completed because of technical or other genuine reasons.
In such cases, the candidate will have to submit a written undertaking at the examination centre.
Exemptions may be granted due to:
- Technical malfunction of the biometric device
- Poor-quality biometric data
- Connectivity issues with UIDAI servers
- Physical inability to provide biometric data
8. Why has the exam duration been increased by 15 minutes?
For the first time, candidates will receive an additional 15 minutes.
According to the NTA, the extra time has been provided to reduce delays caused by reading instructions, affixing photographs and signatures, and other procedural requirements.
The additional time is expected to reduce pressure on candidates and help those who take longer to read and understand questions.

Why is NEET important?
